Treating the Injured Worker
Mike has developed a reputation among physicians, nurse case managers, and vocational counselors for providing comprehensive physical therapy management and care of the injured worker. Each patient is thoroughly evaluated and treatment goals are established specifically for the individual.
The aim is to improve the life of each patient when work and home activities have been limited by changes in their functional ability after work related injury. Developing individual treatment programs for each patient in a multi-disciplinary care approach, includes working closely with nurse case managers, vocational specialists, insurance adjusters and administrators, attorneys and physicians from many specialties.
Our approach is based on training and real life work experience. Before his clinical and ergonomics training Mike worked for years in both the construction industry and in the manufacturing industry. He understands the tasks workers need to perform, both as ergonomic study, and from practical experience.
We regularly perform specialized testing of the worker's function with a comprehensive test called a Functional Capacity Evaluation. Rather than using the usual prefabricated format commonly used, Mike has incorporated his advanced training in orthopaedic manual physical therapy along with standardized function ability testing and assessment of adaptive behavior.
